WE MAVERICKS – Canopy Theatre, Hungate Church,  Beccles – Saturday 14th September   7.30 p.m.

“… the glorious harmonies and touching melodies of We Mavericks craft exquisite folk music, evoking spirits originating from Appalachia to Alba”- Ambient Light, New Zealand

WeMavericksPromo2landscapebyIICONICStudiosAOriginally coming together for just a handful of performances in 2018, the reaction that Lindsay Martin and Victoria Vigenser received from audiences made it obvious that they needed to continue playing together.

Their original collaboration has been making a bold mark on both sides of the Tasman after only a few years performing - a steep and fast rise to Australasian festivals and shows that has seen the duo selected as a showcase artist for Folk Alliance International. They have twice been nominated as  “Best Folk Artist” in the New Zealand Music Awards, three times nominated “Best Contemporary Duo/Group/Ensemble” in the Australian Folk Music Awards and are recipients of Australia’s Troubadour Foundation Award.

True masters in the art of connection, Lindsay (Vocals/mandolin/violin) and Victoria (vocals/banjo/guitar) interweave effortless strings, soulful vocals and driving rhythms to form a singular, intense musical voice.

The couple have been called contemporary folk, alt-country and acoustic pop - styles shown to great effect on debut album “Grief’s A Gardener” - but such words don’t capture their unbelievable musical kinship, or the deeply heartfelt way they relate to their audiences. R n R, magazine described the album as "…... a marvellous introduction to their blend of folk, roots, harmonies and country flavours..."

As an acclaimed career musician ever since his teens, Australian born  Lindsay has many strings to his bow and many projects to his name. Born in New Zealand, Victoria found rural folk festivals in her teens and never looked back. Celebrated for a seemingly effortless lyrical dexterity she performs with a conviction that tugs at heartstrings.

This troubadour duo have a wide ranging appeal that has seen them on a steep and fast rise to countless festival billings throughout 2022/23, with tours in New Zealand, Australia, the UK and mainland Europe this year to accompany their second, highly anticipated, album due for release this year.

“He has a familiar soft folk tenor. She has a strong ringing tone with muscle behind a clear crystalline voice… The violin cries for her and the harmony vocals are divine… We Mavericks are a serendipitous pairing…” - 13th Floor, New Zealand
