MY DARLING CLEMENTINE   Sat 8th March at 8.00 p.m. Canopy Theatre, Hungate Church, Beccles

My darling ClemantineFor what began life as a side project for Michael Weston King & LouDalgleish, a labour of love and a homage to the classic country duets of the 60’s and 70’s, My Darling Clementine has grown and grown.

In a 12 year period they released 6 critically acclaimed albums and a DVD and played over 800 shows right across the world. The numerous accolades and awards they have won has placed them at the forefront of the ever burgeoning Americana scene.

The 2011 debut “How Do You Plead?” was immediately acclaimed on both sides of the Atlantic. Country Music People magazine called it “The greatest British country record ever made.”

The follow-up,“The Reconciliation” featured guest appearances from Kinky Freidman and The Brodsky Quartet and enhanced their growing reputation. The New York Daily News chose it as their ‘album of the month.’

Next came a collaboration with best selling crime writer and avowed country music fan Mark Billingham on the story and song project “The Other Half" , an album, audio book, and stage show which featured contributions from actor David Morrissey and legendary singer songwriter Graham Parker.

Fourth album “Still Testifying” was a further step away from classic country, embracing gospel and country soul. It was widely acclaimed, with many writers praising the new direction.

In 2019 came another collaboration, this time with keyboard genius Steve Nieve (Elvis Costello & The Attractions). They came together to record Country Darkness, a collection of songs written by Elvis Costello, reinterpreted for duet. Released as an LP in November 2020 it featured in both the UK and European Americana charts.

2024 proved to be another busy year with tours of the UK, Europe, Scandinavia, Ireland and America and the recording of a new album of all new original songs.
