No doubt many of you have heard of us and regularly look at our website.  However, for those not familiar with the Trust, here is a short resume of what we do.
EATMT is a registered charity (1082774). We collect and provide information about folk music traditions and arrange promotional events. East Anglia has a rich seam of folk music and has provided inspiration for composers such as Vaughan Williams and Benjamin Britten.
We invite you to have a look through our website, www.eatmt.org.uk, where there is a wealth of information, such as the histories of instruments, dance, music and songs and also a list of our current, future and past events taking place all over the area.
On Saturday 21st September at Stowmarket Traditional Music Day we are bringing entertainment to the town. Our logo for this “big day” is a jig doll. In the town centre you will be treated to 15 Morris teams, East Anglian stepdancers and storytellers performing. You can also find organised concerts, workshops, jig dolls, and more storytelling and stepdancing at a variety of town centre venues. Local singing groups and musicians and school pupils will also be taking part in the entertainment.
Between the hours of 10.30 am and 5 pm all events have free entry.
Huge thanks to the Town and District Councils and in particular to Mid Suffolk for their support in our project “Stowmarket on Show” which has been funded from their Community Development Fund.
Evening concerts are ticketed, although you will also find sessions going on in some of the pubs.
The detailed programme is available on our website together with how to obtain tickets for the evening concerts.
If you wish to volunteer to help on the day we will be grateful to hear from you.
