MACK  & WOOD    SAT 18th NOVEMBER at 7.30 p.m.

CANOPY THEATRE, HUNGATE CHURCH BECCLES

Royal Oak 3

Popular singer/songwriter and guitarist Stuart Mack will be making a very welcome return to his former north Suffolk stamping ground when he plays a headlining show as a duo with Christine Wood.

Stuart was a key part of the East Anglian music scene for over 25 years, clocking up several thousand appearances at folk clubs, festivals, theatres and pubs, many with his late wife Penny, as well as heading the Green Fingers record label and being heavily involved with a recording studio at the Seagull Theatre in Pakefield.

He released a solo album Footsteps (reflecting his life growing up in Exeter and his experiences of touring across mainland Europe for many years) and followed this up with a duo album with John Ward, Four o’clock on a Sunday Morning.

Then came Toby, a hugely successful album recorded with Penny which is still in print today after nearly 30 years. More recently he has put together a CD of archive material featuring solo and duo performances by himself and Penny, which are previously unreleased or are now hard to find elsewhere.

Now based in Northampton and in the process of recording a brand new album, Stuart still returns to Suffolk whenever he can and now regularly performs as a duo with Christine Wood (as Mack & Wood) a talented multi-instrumentalist using an aerophone to replicate a variety of wind and string instruments, adding colour, texture and depth to Stuart’s songs.

They have been extremely busy in and around Northamptonshire in 2023 with headline shows and many Festival appearances and recently filmed a live show.

Expect original story-based songs, contemporary folk, country and more from this versatile and talented duo.
